Wildlife Week 2020

Wildlife Week is celebrated annually across India in the first week of October to create awareness among the people to protect and preserve the flora and fauna. This year WRCS celebrated wildlife week at Sahyadri Tiger Reserve in collaboration with Forest department. WRCS conducted activities like tree plantation, distribution of seedlings and providing educational material.

With start, WRCS participated in the inauguration program of wildlife week 2020 conducted by Sahyadri Tiger Reserve at Koynanagar. In the program nature guides of Chandoli National Park and Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary were present. WRCS's representative Mr Sunil Kale gave insights about ecotourism and WRCS's commitment in the capacity building of nature guide and homestay owners.

A function was organized on by WRCS in collaboration with the Forest Department and local people of Devghar village. Mr Amit Bhosale (RFO Helwak range), Mr Sandip Kumbhar(RFO Koyna) along with their field staff participated in the program. The main aim of the program was to awareness generation in local people regarding wildlife and nature conservation. The program was well-received as many residents of Koyna and Chandoli were present, including nature guides, homestay owners, Women self-help groups and farmers. Seedlings of Cinnamon and Tamalpatra plants, posters of local birds were distributed in the participants. The program provided a platform for healthy interaction between local people and the officers of the forest department for the betterment of wildlife.

 

The program was possible of the hard work of our local supporters Mr Jagnath Sapkal, Mr Bunty Bhomkar, Mr Sambhaji Chalke, Ravindra Lad, Vijay Patil, Sitaram Pawar and may more.
