Art of Painting : Skill Enhancement Workshop for Women at Koyna Project Site

The Koyna Conservation  Project is showing several positive outcomes. Many farmers are now willingly participating in taking up plantations, bee keeping, organic farming and many such sustainable activities. We are also focusing on livelihood generation for the local people. Previously trainings on cookery, handicraft and nature guides were conducted and have been successful in providing additional income to the people. In August 2018, a three day training workshop on traditional painting was conducted for the women from three villages of Koyna region. Mrs. Vandana Deosthali from Pune, an experienced artist and art teacher, conducted the workshop. From WRCS, Mr. Sunil Kale, the Project Officer, Mr. Arun and Mr. Bunty helped in conducting the workshop. Mrs. Vandana trained the women in drawing and painting with remarkable skill and the women participated with a lot of enthusiasm. They echoed their happiness stating  "In rural areas, women are trained only for taking care of the kitchen and the family. However with the help of WRCS and Sunil Kale, we are learning many new things. By organizing such workshops and trainings, WRCS is helping us discover our own potential and creativity"!  Please have a look at the photos below to see what the women created in a short time... it truly exceeded everyone's expectations !
